About this site

[Fairy and Swordsman] was created in 2006 by a big fan of the game "Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan" she played in 1995. More specifically, this site is dedicated to the cute main couple, Li Xiao Yao and Zhao Ling Er. This site works as both a Fanlisting and Fansite which has any and everything to do with this pair! You'll find the largest amount of images here, fanworks, articles, songs, downloads and more! We are also the first, and only English Fansite dedicated to Chinese Paladin (both the Game and TV production), and solely on this pairing. We are slowly expanding this site to cover general Chinese Paladin news, news on Liu Yi Fei and Hu Ge and the forum works to join all dedicated fans of Chinese Paladin (not necessarily for this couple).

About the Game

Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan (also known as PAL) is an RPG created by Softstar Entertainment Inc which involves a touching love story. The game has been considered by many as simply one of the best Chinese RPG ever created. Since its first release in 1995 (DOS Version), many new versions and sequels (including a prequel) were created, however, none could replace the breath-taking and tragic tale it was born from. Here, we meet our hero Li Xiao Yao; an aspiring martial artist and the lovely, charismatic; Zhao Ling Er.

The TV Series

Due to the game's popularity & large fanbase, this TV drama was produced in 2004 and was titled Chinese Paladin. Hu Ge takes the role of protagonist Li Xiao Yao, and Zhao Ling Er is played by Crystal Liu Yi Fei (both new actors), where the characters are brought to life to many fans. It is generally faithful to the game, however there were many additions as well as changes made in terms of both the personality of characters and relationships. Some fans were outraged by the change in Zhao Ling Er's character which was altered in a less favourable way. Nevertheless, the couple stay true to each other and it could be argued their love has never been stronger.

Why the name 'Fairy and Swordsman?'

Ling Er is a Nu Wa descendant, with the heart and beauty of a Fairy, and Xiao Yao is most known for his swordsmanship. The literal translation of "Xian Jian" is fairy sword, so I think this title is very much approproate to this lovely couple.

I'm sure there are many fans out there, and I hope they're able to find their way here to join the list, and spread the love =) This fanlisting accepts all sorts of the good relationship between the two characters, so if you love them as companions that's absolutely fine; as long as you love them together, the way isn't important.
