Sorry, I've made a similar topic in the announcement forum, as I think that this kind of news deserves a proper announcement

Good news: the game has been greenlit, so it will appear on Steam in the near future, thanks for everyone who voted and, if you have a Steam account, feel free to leave a comment in the discussion thread here:

This is nice. Thanks for the info, guys. If they do it well, I'll buy a copy of their entire library just to encourage them to include the English-speaking community in their target market.

I need more wuxia in my life.

If they ever decide to translate all the games into english and made them able to be win 7 compatible then I'd get all the hard copies.
The problem would be voice actors, I've gotten used to the ones in the original games.

Haha, no one bothered to explain how to vote XD
I'd prefer English dialogue with Mandarin voice overs XP That's the best in my opinion. We did the same with Tales of the Abyss. The Japanese voice actor for Luke sounds so much better than the English...

Well, since the project has already been greenlit, you can't vote anymore, but you can still leave a comment in the discussion, maybe SoftStar will actually bother translating this game? Or, alternatively, they could provide funding for Rich to finish his translation (I'm serious, such things happened in the past, e.g. some Ys translations by XSEED for which they paid the translator or Capcom funding a fan-made game called Street Fighter x Mega Man)

Re: Xian Jian XP Version on Steam Greenlight!
I played the DOS version a loooooong time ago, I beat the game even though I can't read chinese, no cheating, I remember there was an item that did high damage but given only at very limited amount like 2 or 3 max throughout the game I forgot. Or maybe I did cheat but only at last boss...welll..I forgot, but I tried my best not to cheat a game that I like and not impossible to beat.
I tried the demo for windows version a few years ago and it surprised me a windows version existed at that time, sadly the language barrier was still there and the translation never got completed, time goes on and out of the blue I google this game again and read this news.
I hope Steam will remake the game with English translation. This game is very memorable, great story and soundtracks, I've explored every inch of the area in the game because I got stuck a lot and couldn't read Chinese, I can only read very very few words >< , I remember even taking a note of some dialogues from the game and asked my dad for translation lol.
Let's just hope it will happen, can't wait to replay this great game in a language that I can actually understand.
I also hope if it does come true, the game will have a great success so they'll bring all the sequels and prequels to English too.

This is good news for all fans...
Thanks for mentioning me, but I think the interest is just too low among the English-speaking fans.

The original SoftStar programmers have the source code to the game, they would be in a way better position to produce an English version, without all the restrictions I face with the buggy custom tool...

Rich, have you actually tried to get in touch with SoftStar and offer assistance on the translation? It might be a long shot, but I think it's still worth a try to reach them, considering that there has never been a big interest for Chinese games outside of China, I'd say they would be proud that their game is slowly getting recognized all over the world
