haha yes i agree with you. the ending will suck even more if xiao yao dies. ppl will then be watching this show to see all the characters die at the end... so its better if xiao yao live and takes care of yi ru (:

It would be pretty awkward of Xiao Yao dies too...what kind of message would the film be sending out to the good guys out there without any relatives/friends?

then XiaoYao's and Linger's promise wouldve been a fail....at least even the script writers killed maybe in their human bodies... killed all the main characters...... :x they left XiaoYao alone!

If he die too the little baby don't have a father
And the ending would be more sad if he die too. But sad for him he lost all his friends and his wife :|

But he shouldn't die!!!!

some miracle should have occured to make linger alive. And yue ru shouldn't have come alive in the computer version. happy family, with yiru. that would be perfect.

Well,if XiaoYao dies, the show would be more memorable and touching.
Of course many viewers would not want it this way,but for a show to live in the viewers' heart after watching it,viewers would not get what they want.

Found this topic interesting...

XY doesnt need to 'die' in order to die. What I mean is that isnt part of him dead already when watching his friends' deaths one by one, and his wife Ling Er? That is pictured perfectly in the very end when his expression is kinda empty (very different with what he is pictured in the drama - cheerful, playful type). And people say, including the drama that your wife/husband is your another half, meaning that if they are gone for good, you lost half of your 'life'? :|

Well said kevinlinus~ By the end of the story, Xiaoyao seems pretty lifeless... :(

There's no way that Ling Er could've lived. Nu Wa descendents are meant to sacrifice themselves for their people at a young age.

I don't think Xiao Yao should've died either. Yi Ru will grow up without parents, just like what Xiao Yao himself had to go through. And I know Ling Er wouldn't have wanted that. Auntie and Xiao Hu will be very upset as well.
