Sorry, haven't been here for a while, here's a link for a torrent I made long ago for the game, it's already translated so all you need to do is extract the archive and start playing:

I hope it's OK with you Jenn that I post a link to this tracker

Can someone please re-upload the patch if they still have it?
The torrent has no seeds...

Thanks!

Hello,

Since the downloads are dead and the torrent has no seeds I decided to investigate whether or not there was a way to recover the files.

After much searching for a working translated version I've compiled a working version of the game. In order to get it to work on Windows 7 64bit.

Core Game Files found in this discussion:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1006&start=60

Found out that someone who created a port of a SDL port of the PAL which allows the game to run in Windows/ GNU/ Linux/ Mac OSX
http://sdlpal.codeplex.com/

I then discovered it was ported to a handheld called Caanoo, but more importantly supposedly included an english translaton. In which I decided to investigate further.

http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?/t ... irysdlpal/

After downloading files I discovered it indeed contain the translation files.

I believe the translations were done by the members of chinesepaladin.org forum but I'm not sure which version of the translation patch is currently being used in the port.

Pal
Pal95
SDLPAL
TLOSAF LANGUAGE FILES

So I created this pal folder that contains a copy of all parts I extracted which one would need to run the English translated game.

Use 7.zip to extract
Note that both pal95.mdf and pal95mds have been stripped out to keep the file size small.

Run sdlpal.exe to boot the game. (WIN95 Version)
http://depositfiles.com/files/pkgp5lpq6 (****See Note Below)

Update (WIN98 Verision)
- Run Pal.exe to run the game.
- Use Applocale : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=13209 if you come across text problems.
- Compiled a working version of the Windows 98 Version of the game complete with the video files for the cutscenes.

Note: The translation actually works better with the Win98 version. There are bugs with the 95 version I got stuck unable to give the drunk sword saint the wine using the translation. Use the Win98 version if you also run into the bug.

Note: Running in Windows 8
Make sure to put in Windows 7 compatibly mode and give administrative privileges to Pal.exe.

I'm trying it out here: (Sorry about the mic, first time trying to stream video.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EogZHB5lKts

Great stuff! Thanks for putting it all together.

I downloaded the windows 98 version; for some reason the ingame music doesn't match the midi files in the "musics" folder. Any explanation?

Thanks!

Sorry, I've lost the archive and had to reupload the torrent making a new one, I'm back to seeding it now, so you can grab the game from my link, though next time please send me a message instead of complaining about the lack of seeders! 8)

I've pre patched Pal1 Win 98 version with the full english patch along with a modified exe. Just extract the Pal98rqp folder, and launch sdlpal95.exe and start playing, it's a modified exe so applocale isn't needed. Enjoy! :)

Hey, guys, looks like someone proofread and edited Xire's translation, see the thread here:
http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2441/
Thank You, anon, for the hard work! :)
Also, if you are the translator and you're reading this now, I suggest you get in touch with Chamine and I'm sure he can share the source of his editor with you (I had it long ago, but lost it when my old laptop died)
Quoting his PM from long ago:
http://code.google.com/p/palresearch/source/browse/
A lot of info about inner game files. But only in plain chinese.

And in short about dialogs in this game:
1) All dialog texts are in m.msg file - they are in BIG5 (for DOS version) or GB2312 (for Win95) chinese encoding.
2) But their starting and ending offsets are in 4-th section inside sss.mkf (this fail contains sections inside itself).
3) You will be easily able to change dialogs for DOS - but you will must change also FONT FILES! And implement a method to put inside a crazy font with COMBINATION of letters! Like 'ab', 'ef', 'fa', e.t.c. Why?! DOS-version allows you only put 13 (or so) latin letters in one screen line. (Simply put, the text won't fit - The letters there are wide, so you'll have a VERY short translation like "Li left. And went." with no hint of literariness... Basically, there's a lot to do.)

He also noted that it's possible to edit the dialogues of the DOS version with his app if you change two lines of code in the source.
